About Tanari International |
| Tanari International is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, registered in the state of Illinois . We exist to serve local churches and Christian institutions as they seek to build strong, relevant, Christian communities around the world. Our mission is to equip such communities with programs, materials and training that stimulate encounters with God, others, the environment, and the self in Christian community. Such programs tackle the problem of the isolation of persons, especially the youth, from God and from healthy communities. Our vision is to see programs such as our flagship Rites of Passage Experiences (ROPES) serving Christian communities wherever needed around the world. | | | Tanari International is an outcome of the vibrant ministries that were already taking place at Tanari Trust in East Africa . Inspired by the success of these ministries, and in fellowship with the leadership of Tanari Trust, several Christian men and women gathered together in Wheaton , IL , and founded the organization in mid 2003. Tanari International was granted nonprofit status early 2004. Since then, Tanari International has focused on supporting the growth of capacity at Tanari Trust as the partner with ministries already on the ground. This support has seen Tanari Trust grow from a relatively small outfit that worked with slightly over 1,000 youths a year, to where it worked with 8,300 young people from over 40 churches/organizations in 2007. The focus has now shifted to being available for ministry opportunities in other parts of the African continent, especially in East and Central Africa . We have partnered with various other organizations such as CMS Africa,World Relief and IcFEM, in this phase as we roll out programs regionally. | | |
